Maria - The Natural Doula

When I was younger I set out to be a midwife, within a year of studying, I knew it wasn't going to work for me & I turned to Mental Health Nursing. 3 years later I again realised the system wasn't for me, it was not what it was portrayed to be, everything within the system felt wrong on a cellular level and I left the health world behind. I started a family & a successful hair and beauty business but this wasn't fulfilling. I went on to secure a HND in Child Psychology, specifically, The Mental Health and Well-being of Children and Young People. It was whilst I was studying this that I heard the inspirational quote "Peace on earth, starts at birth" and I thought; it should but it doesn't (I knew this from my own trauma/experiences) and how much more wonderful life would be if it WAS this way?!

I Immediately signed up with the EBE award nominated maternity service "When Push Comes To Shove" and completed my Doula training in 2022. In June 2022 I attended my first birth as a Doula, this was a natural home water birth.

I've had the pleasure of witnessing 15 beautiful births so far, from VBAC to Twins each was astoundingly unique!! 

On my journey I've found that i don't need to be within a system to revolutionalize maternity care, I'm already doing it, 1 birth at a time.
